Optical fibre lit glazed showcase

New exclusive optical fibre lit glazed showcases

The benefits of optical fibre lighting.

Basically, an optical fibre is made up of:

a seamless tube of very fine glass.

a sheath – i.e. a transparent envelope with a refraction index of virtually zero -which traps all the light in the core and reflects it back on itself .

a protective sleeve often containing several hundreds of fibres.

a very specific connection system, without which the light would be trapped at the ends of the fibres and cannot be emitted.

a light generator with a bulb (warranted 5000 hours continuous use)

A Veramy option is a disc with different coloured segments. You set the disc to remain on one colour or to rotate to vary the colours of the lighting to attract attention to the showcase.

The service life of these optical fibres is estimated to be 20 years or more.

The electric signal to be transmitted via metal conductors is converted into light by a transceiver and an LED (Light Emitting Diode) or a laser.

The benefits of optical fibres

There are a host of advantages in using optical fibre lighting in showcases:

You can choose the colour of the light with which you want to illuminate the object in the showcase.

The light is "cold" unlike conventional bulbs which can cause fire hazards! Your objets d'art (clocks, travelling clocks, statuettes, etc. will be perfectly lit with no risk of damage from overheating.

As this light is UV-free it protects colour-sensitive objects from fading.

Optical fibres do not heat up in use, unlike electrical wires

Low fibre bundle weight per linear foot

Unaffected by external EMI (neon lights, HV cables, etc.)
